It should be noted that the Portuguese D2 Visa, also known as the Migrant Entrepreneur Visa, is designed for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens who wish to start or expand a business in Portugal. Details and requirements are as follows:

General Qualifications
  • Nationality: In order to qualify, you must not be a citizen of the EU, EEA, or Switzerland.
  • Business Plan: A solid business plan outlines your company’s activities and demonstrates its potential for economic impact in Portugal.
  • Financial Stability: It is essential you show proof that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself and your business in Portugal. One year’s living expenses must be at least €10,440.
  • Investment: There is no minimum investment amount, but you must demonstrate that the investment you make is sufficient to establish the business and to run it successfully.
Application Process
  • NIF Number: Get a Portuguese tax identification number (NIF).
  • Business Bank Account: Open a Portuguese bank account.
  • Company Registration: Form a Portuguese limited company (LDA) or buy/invest in one.
  • Document Preparation: Obtain proof of income, accommodation, and travel insurance.
  • Application Form: Fill out the D2 visa application form accurately.
  • Appointment: Contact your nearest Portuguese consulate or VFS Global office.
  • Residence Permit: Once in Portugal, apply for a temporary residence permit from the Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA) within four months of visa issuance.
