CANADA START-UP VISA PROGRAM

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for the Canada Start-up Visa Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a non-Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Have a qualifying innovative business idea that is scalable and globally competitive.
- Obtain a Letter of Support from a designated Canadian organization, which may be:
- A designated venture capital fund (must confirm minimum investment of CAD $200,000),
- A designated angel investor group (minimum investment of CAD $75,000), or
- A designated business incubator (no financial requirement, but must be accepted into a program).
- Hold at least 10% of the voting rights in the business, with all applicants and the designated organization jointly holding more than 50%.
- Meet the language requirement in English or French (CLB 5 or higher).
- Have sufficient settlement funds, depending on family size (e.g., CAD $14,690 for a single applicant).
Up to five co-founders may apply under the same startup as long as each meets the eligibility criteria.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Develop an Innovative Business Idea
Design a startup concept that is creative, impactful, and has the potential to succeed on a global scale. - Secure Endorsement from a Designated Organization
Pitch your idea to a government-approved venture fund, angel investor group, or incubator. Upon approval, you will receive a Letter of Support. - Meet Language and Financial Criteria
Take an approved language test (IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF) and prepare documentation proving sufficient funds to settle in Canada. - Submit Your Application for Permanent Residence
Apply through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), including your Letter of Support and all required documents. - Launch Your Startup in Canada
While waiting for PR approval, you may apply for a temporary work permit to start building your business in Canada.
