Worker Expansion Visa for the UK

There is a UK Expansion Worker Visa, which is part of the Global Business Mobility route, which allows employees of overseas businesses who are starting new branches in the UK to come to the UK to set up a branch of their business that has not yet begun trading in the UK. Senior managers or specialists are eligible for this visa.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for the UK Expansion Worker Visa, you must meet the following requirements:

• Certificate of sponsorship: Employers must provide a sponsorship certificate. Your personal details, job details, and proof of overseas work experience must be included.
• Employment Requirement: To apply for this role, you must have worked for your employer outside of the UK for at least 12 months before applying.
• Job Role: If you are applying for the job, it must be listed on the list of eligible occupations and must be a genuine vacancy. National Minimum Wage Regulations or Working Time Regulations should apply.
• Salary Requirement: To qualify for the job, you must be paid the minimum eligible salary required for the position.
• Personal savings: You must have enough personal savings to support yourself during your stay in the UK.

Application process

Depending on your status, you must apply online:

• Leaving the UK and coming to the UK from outside the UK.
• You are currently inside the UK and you would like to extend your current visa.
• It is possible to switch from one type of visa to another while inside the UK.

Time and Extensions

• It is possible for you to stay in the UK for up to 12 months after the start date of the job on your sponsoring certificate, or for the period given on your sponsoring certificate plus 14 days, whichever comes first.
• It is possible to extend your visa by 12 months if you need to. However, the maximum period is two years.

Amounts charged

• For each year that you will be staying in the country, you, your partner, and your children will each be required to pay for the application fee and the healthcare surcharges.
• Additionally, you will need to prove that you have enough personal savings to cover your expenses.
• If you have spent time on one of the Global Business Mobility visas, you can stay in the UK for a maximum of five years in any six years.
